THE DAILY DEAL OFFERS A FRAMEWORK FOR INDIVIDUALS GIVING AWAY $5,000 OR $5 MILLION

Special Report on Philanthropy tells dealmakers how to give largess away

December 8, 2000--New York, N.Y.--The Daily Deal turns its Special Report spotlight today on a group that has benefited from the recent robustness of the economy - the new philanthropists who find it more challenging to be benefactors than spendthrifts.

The report, also available on TheDeal.com, details the options available for "investing" the new streams of largess and examines the phenomenon of venture-philanthropy in which donors define the societal needs they want targeted and then use their particular skills as entrepreneurs or venture capitalists to meet those goals.

Senior editor Alison Rogers found three routes today's hands-on Carnegies can use for donations: private foundations, donor-advised funds and supporting organizations and details the tax deductibility and financial control each offers.

The Daily Deal's special report on philanthropy features two sidebars on options for giving away $5,000 to $5,000,000. The report also carries signature charts and tables with one showing a sampling of 75 of the largest gifts granted by individuals in 2000.
