2009 MARKETPLACE SURVEY: A LOOK AT THE FINANCIAL LANDSCAPE

What: 2009 Marketplace Survey: A look at the financial landscape. A complimentary, hour-long webcast.

Hosted by: The Deal LLC and KPMG LLP

Description: M&A and private equity professionals come together in a webcast to share opinions on the future of the deal-making landscape and the results of the recently released annual 2009 M&A Marketplace Survey by KPMG, the audit, tax and advisory firm. This webcast panel provides perspective on the opportunities for strategic and financial acquirers, consolidation hotbeds, evolving deal terms and an outlook for the credit markets.

Despite the tepid economic environment, a significant percentage of the KPMG survey respondents expect to be active dealmakers in the coming months. Areas respondents said they want to pursue include distressed investing and distressed businesses. Meanwhile, industries that respondents view as the most active for deals include banking, financial sector, automotive, energy, healthcare and retail. With nearly half saying they halted one out of three deals in 2008, 52 percent of the respondents think the lack of available financing will be the major factor in preventing deal closures in 2009.

Panelists: Jim Burr, Managing Director, The Carlyle Group
Greg Falk, National Head of M&A Tax, KPMG LLP
Marc Moyers, Global Lead Partner, Private Equity, KPMG LLP
Dan Tiemann, National Operations Leader, Transaction Services, KPMG LLP
