September 15, 1999: 

Launched the daily newspaper The Daily Deal and Web site Thedailydeal.com with a staff of 40 employees. It opened with a circulation of 20,000 and distribution on the East and West coasts.

March 2000: 
American Lawyer Media sold the assets of The Daily Deal and Corporate Control Alert to The Deal, LLC, privately owned by private equity funds sponsored by Wasserstein & Co., LP.
