John Blakeley is the assistant managing editor overseeing production of twice-daily digital newsletter The Daily Deal. John also assists Editor-in-chief Jeffrey Kanige in daily editorial coverage by assigning and editing stories throughout The Deal's various beats.

John started at The Deal in 2006 as a bankruptcy reporter specializing in debtor-in-possession financings. In addition to penning the “DIP Dimensions” column, he covered some of the most prominent Chapter 11 filings. He then moved up to editor overseeing middle-market coverage as well as consumer products, retail and sports. Prior to joining The Deal, John worked in Fordham University's media relations office.
