Assistant Managing Editor: Markets

Paula Schaap is the assistant managing editor for markets covering equities and debt markets with an emphasis on deals that are of particular interest to hedge fund professionals involved in managing event-driven, distressed and risk arbitrage portfolios.

Prior to joining The Deal, Paula was editor of HedgeFund.net, where she launched their online applications in addition to covering the private equity space. Before that Paula was a reporter in the New York office of London-based Financial News, now a division of Dow Jones, where she covered asset managers and trading and technology. As an editor at VerdictSearch, a unit of American Lawyer Media, she developed and edited a new column featuring leading national trial attorneys discussing trial tactics. She was also in charge of editing and producing ALM’s “Annual Top 100 Verdicts” publication.
