Meet the Journalists

William McConnell

Bureau chief, Washington

Bill McConnell has led The Deal LLC's coverage of the nation’s capital since becoming Washington bureau chief in 2005. Over the past six years, Bill’s reporting has covered a range of Washington issues critical to the deal community—antitrust, financial reform, corporate accounting, tax policy, the impact of national security concerns on dealmaking and the effect consolidation has had on American society.

Prior to joining The Deal, Bill was the Washington correspondent for Broadcasting & Cable, where he spent seven years reporting on the debate over media ownership, the FCC’s crackdown on broadcast indecency and the rollout of digital television. Bill has also been a reporter for American Banker, covering Capitol Hill and banking regulators, and for The Daily Record in Baltimore, tracking Maryland’s public companies, the state’s biotech industry and the Baltimore advertising industry. He began his career in journalism at The Daily Times in Maryville, Tenn.
