VIDEO: THL's Scott Sperling shares PE strategies

by Katie Roof  |  Published April 19, 2012 at 4:18 PM

As co-president of Thomas H. Lee Partners, Scott Sperling holds $14 billion in funds under management. In this video, he chats about what types of private equity investments are appealing right now. Mentioning business process outsourcing as well as retail, Sperling says that THL is looking for "sectors that have good secular growth that's not necessarily tied directly to GDP." Sperling also opines that $250 million to $2.5 billion is the ideal deal size and explains why the primary goal of a private equity-backed initial public offering is not necessarily liquidity.
