Mountain View-Calif.-based MIPS Technologies Inc. named Mark Tyndall as vice president, business development and corporate relations, reporting to president and CEO John Bourgoin. Tyndall will direct M&A activities and expand the firm's relationships with the financial community. Tyndall joined MIPS Technologies, which provides industry-standard processor architectures and cores for digital consumer and business applications, from German chipmaker Infineon Technologies AG. Prior to Infineon, Tyndall worked at Fujitsu Microelectronics, Germany.
Onyx Pharmaceuticals Inc., Emeryville, Calif., appointed Laura Brege as executive vice president and chief business officer. Brege will handle finance, business development, legal, human resources and investor relations functions. Brege was previously a general partner at Red Rock Management, a venture capital firm specializing in early stage-financing for technology companies.
Onyx develops novel cancer therapies that target the molecular basis of cancer. In December, the firm received FDA approval for its lead product Nexavar® tablets, used for treating patients with advanced kidney cancer. Recently, Onyx received fast track designation for use of the product with liver cancer.
Michael Grippo was named to the newly created post of vice president, corporate business development, strategy and market research at Hillenbrand Industries Inc., a manufacturer of equipment for the healthcare industry. In addition to his business development devoirs, Grippo will manage subsidiary Hill-Rom Inc.'s strategic planning and market research functions.
Grippo joins the Batesville, Ind. company from SunTrust Robinson Humphrey, where he was a senior healthcare investment banker.
