Corporations elevate their M&A and alliance strategies

In Virginia, Scott Wielar was named senior vice president of marketing and business development at SER Solutions Inc., a provider of management and speech analytics solutions. Wielar will be charged with building the SER brand and formalizing and expanding the channel partnership network. Most recently, Wielar was a senior director at Capital One Financial Corp., where he was responsible for integrated marketing launch and channel expansion activities. Prior to that, he served as a strategy and operations consultant with Bain & Co., Deloitte & Touche and Arthur Andersen.

Wireless messaging service provider USA Mobility Inc. appointed Nancy Green as vice president of new business development. Green will explore new acquisition, joint venture and strategic alliance opportunities that complement our core paging and wireless messaging segments. Before joining USA Mobility in 1995, Green was manager of business services at AT&T Wireless.

Los Angeles-based ORFID Corp., an organic electronics company, promoted Winn Hong to vice president of corporate development. Hong was previously a senior director of biz dev. Hong has worked in product development, strategic partnering and scientific research. Prior to ORFID, Hong was VP of business and product development at Genefluidics Inc., a medical diagnostic device company.

AeroAstro Inc., a microsatellite technology and communications pioneer, acquired the majority of the assets of Signal Research Corp., a Colorado-based provider of unique, high-value intelligence and space solutions. As part of the acquisition, Craig Gravelle, SRC's founder and chief operating officer, will join AeroAstro as VP of business development. Primarily, he will generate new business, form strategic partnerships, develop new customers and support AeroAstro's growth strategy in addition to overall corporate management.

BioWare/Pandemic Studios has hired Jillian Goldberg as vice president of marketing. Goldberg joins the BioWare/Pandemic executive team from Electronic Arts Inc., where she was responsible for driving EA's global marketing strategy, licensor relationships and studio partnerships. Goldberg will oversee marketing for franchises from both Bioware and Pandemic. — Baz Hiralal
