News Corp. CEO Rupert Murdoch is continuing the organization's digital expansion with a joint venture that will bring MySpace to Japan. News Corp. and Japan's Softbank Corp. will own the JV 50-50. News Corp. acquired MySpace operator Intermix Media Inc. in July 2005 for $580 million as part of its push into new media.
Last year it also picked up Scout Media, which operates sports-related Web sites, and video game operator IGN Entertainment. For more on old media's push into digital, see Richard Morgan's Corporate Dealmaker story.
