Michael Marquez is now a vice president, strategy and corporate development for CBS Interactive. Marquez, who was previously director of corporate development for Yahoo! Inc., will initiate investments and acquisitions. CBS Interactive was designed to form new media strategies and partnerships involving all interactive platforms, including the Internet, mobile and video gaming.
British drug giant GlaxoSmithKline named Adrian Rawcliffe a senior vice president of worldwide business development, research and development. He will be responsible for licensing, collaborations and alliance management. Rawcliffe most recently served as a managing partner and president of SR One Ltd., GSK's venture capital business. He succeeds Moncef Slaoui, now R&D chairman.
Sendmail Inc., a global provider of messaging, made Stephanie Nevin vice president of business development. She will direct partnering and strategic alliance relationships in technology, original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and system integration. Nevin recently held a business development role with LRN, a leading ethics and compliance program provider.
Gregg Kalman joined Network General Corp. as vice president of worldwide business development. Kalman is responsible for managing the company's distribution and OEM programs, and driving strategic relationships. Before this, he worked at Avaya as a vice president of global channel strategy and operations.
Robert Brown made his way to Biothera as a senior vice president of corporate development. He will identify and negotiate licensing opportunities for the company's pharmaceutical compounds. Most recently, he was president and chief executive of EllisBrown & Associates LLC, which provides business development guidance to biopharmaceutical companies and healthcare investors. Brown spent more than a decade with Bristol-Myers Squibb Co., where he held several positions, including vice president of corp dev.
