Robert F. Bruner is dean of the University of Virginia Darden School of Business and an accomplished author — he's written 19 books, including the top-selling "Applied Mergers & Acquisitions" and "Deals from Hell."

His latest work shows that in addition to being a prolific wordsmith, he also has a darn good sense of timing. The just-released "Panic of 1907" chronicles that century-old market panic, drawing some disturbing parallels to today's markets.

At the Tuesday, Oct. 2, Corporate Dealmaker Forum in New York, Bruner will discuss the latest market unrest and share some of the M&A lessons learned from the case studies in his "Deals from Hell." — Suzanne Stevens
