An impressive roster of leading dealmakers will gather in New York on Tuesday, Oct. 2, for the Corporate Dealmaker Forum, where they'll compare notes on how strategic acquirers can continue to raise the level of their game in a turbulent deal environment. In 2007, the market has gone from record M&A volumes driven by private equity buyers to a credit crunch and a sharp falloff in transactions — an environment that confronts corporate development professionals with both challenges and opportunities.

During the day-long event, senior dealmakers from Cisco Systems Inc., Whirlpool Corp., Home Depot Inc., Siemens Corp. and Honeywell International Inc. among others will dive deep into topics including:

• A New Financial Landscape: Strategics, Private Equity & Hedge Funds
• Competing — and Collaborating? — with Private Equity
• Sourcing Deals: Staying Ahead of the Competition
• Emerging Markets: Deal Sourcing and Due Diligence

The event offers a great opportunity to not only hear from some of the leading minds in dealmaking, but also to network with corporate development and M&A executives from throughout the Northeast. — Suzanne Stevens

Even in a period when things like toxic credit default swaps and noxious structured investment vehicles dominate the conversation in many parts of the deal community, people are still willing to take the time to recognize skill and achievement in the strategic transactions that help those companies adapt and grow.
