Automobile maker Chrysler LLC named L. John Cataldo (right) as vice president of business development and mergers and acquisitions, handling all major business development activities globally, including alliances, partnerships, joint ventures and multiregion, product-related programs. Cataldo previously spent more than a decade with General Electric Co., most recently as a GE Energy business general manager of strategy, marketing and commercial operations and formerly as leader of biz dev, GE Energy Services. Based in Auburn Hills, Mich., he'll report to vice chairman and president Tom LaSorda.

Chrysler CEO Bob Nardelli is a GE veteran too, having made his reputation there before moving over to Home Depot Inc. in 2000.

The makers of Dodge, Jeep and, of course, Chrysler, created a labor deal with the United Auto Workers over the weekend. Back in May, Cerberus Capital Management LP acquired 80.1% of the Chrysler Group and its related financial services business from DaimlerChrysler AG for $7.41 billion. — Baz Hiralal
