Cisco Systems Inc. and India's Wipro Ltd. will jointly develop and deliver information technology service solutions to markets around the world, combining Cisco's networking solutions with Wipro's infrastructure and managed services portfolio. Wim Elfrink, chief globalization officer for Cisco, said the agreement could scale up to $1 billion in the next three years. They will also establish a Cisco Solution Centre at the Wipro Campus in Bangalore, India.

Initially, the two will focus on India, the Middle East and Africa. Eventually, Cisco and Wipro will develop solutions to support the healthcare, financial services, retail, real estate and transportation sectors.

Also, see this video where VP of strategic alliances Steve Steinhilber discusses the alliance. He'll answer questions, including:

• "What does the alliance with Wipro mean to Cisco, Wipro and customers?"
• "Why an alliance with Wipro in India?"
• "What makes an alliance strategic?"
