Sprint Nextel Corp. hasn't given up on its WiMax venture.
According to the WSJ, Sprint is talking with startup Clearwire about forming a WiMax joint venture that could also involve other players, including Intel Corp. and Google Inc. A month after the CEO-less cellular giant's talks with Clearwire fell apart in November, Dan Hesse
took the helm at Sprint as president and CEO. He recently announced a
management shakeup at the firm, part of a broader
streamlining process that the firm hopes will bring profitability in 2008. This is also part of the reason for the recent uptick in Sprint's lagging stock.
