
Cablevision Systems Corp. and IAC/InterActiveCorp's Ticketmaster are trying to acquire 49% of concert promoter AEG Live, the NYT reports, citing people briefed on the talks. The move is part of a broader plan to consolidate various segments of the live music industry. AEG's main rival is Live Nation, which recently formed its own ticketing business, ending a relationship with Ticketmaster. The WSJ puts the deal price between $350 million and $400 million.
Meanwhile the Dolan family's long-running dream of taking Cablevision private remains on hold. The Deal's
Chris Nolter reports that when the credit markets strengthen, so too will the prospects for a deal. By then, Nolter says, the threat that rival Verizon Communications Inc. poses should be clearer, even if the running argument over just how much Cablevision is worth isn't. -
