CapRock Communications Corp., a provider of global satellite communication solutions, made Keith Johnson vice president of corporate development. Previously interim managing director of the firm's Europe, Middle East and Africa operations, Johnson will now be responsible for overseeing CapRock's global expansion into new markets, new verticals and related acquisitions. Johnson came to the firm as general manager of systems integration when CapRock acquired the firm he founded, Transworld Telecom.
CapRock has changed hands a couple of times in recent years. In 2006, private equity firm Abry Partners LLC completed a secondary buyout of CapRock for $200 million from Riverside Co. Riverside bought CapRock from McLeodUSA Inc. in 2002.
The Deal reported that more than half of CapRock's revenues come from a single unnamed customer. In January, global drilling contractor Rowan Cos. signed a
multiyear deal to deliver broadband satellite communications to its fleet of onshore and offshore rigs. -
