We recently
took a look at ArcelorMittal's use of an innovative Web TV series -- now in its second season -- to facilitate the integration of the two companies following the landmark deal in 2006 that brought them together.
Now McKinsey Quarterly brings us more of the story, in the form of a Q&A with the two executives who led the integration: Jerome Granboulan, who came from the Arcelor side, and William A. Scotting, who came from the Mittal side. Sample quotes from each:
Granboulan: "One of the greatest challenges was to get line managers involved and to sell the merger to the operating teams."
Scotting: "Managers need to have a well-structured message about the significance of the merger and the direction the company is going in, and we learned that this should be done very clearly and as a matter of urgency."
You'll find the rest of the Q&A
