Earlier this month, Kraft Foods Inc. brought in Michael Osanloo as executive vice president, strategy. Osanloo barely had time to unpack before news broke of the $23 billion Mars Inc.-William Wrigley Jr. Co. deal, prompting speculation about what Kraft might do in response. One possibility is a play by Kraft for Cadbury Schweppes plc., as described on our sister blog, Dealscape.

At Kraft, Osanloo is responsible for portfolio strategy and assisting the business units in identifying strategic opportunities that will drive profitable growth. He was previously senior vice president of marketing at Harrah's Entertainment Inc. where David Norton will be filling his shoes. Prior to that, he was a partner in the retail and consumer products practice at Bain & Co., where he helped improve the effectiveness of strategic, operational and marketing programs at various multibillion-dollar companies. Kraft Foods' 2007 revenues were more than $37 billion. - Maria Woehr
