CellTVPhoneInternet.jpg Comcast Corp., Time Warner Cable Inc., Cox Communications Inc. and Advance/Newhouse Communications said they are pulling out of a $200 million mobile joint venture, known as Pivot, with Sprint Nextel Corp. "We both decided that the product that was designed was too operationally complex -- dependent on too many companies to be a national, scalable product," a Comcast spokeswoman told Bloomberg.

The idea of the venture was to boost the triple-play offering to a quadruple combination of services including video, wireless voice and data services, high-speed Internet and cable phone service. A Sprint spokeswoman told Bloomberg they halted Pivot sales in stores in February after finding the process of adding customers too complicated.

While this venture may have scuttled, Sprint is still moving forward with its WiMax plans. It has been in active talks with Clearwire Corp. regarding a $2 billion joint venture for its Xohm initiative.
