Think a combined Hewlett-Packard / Electronic Data Systems will be positioned to take on IBM? Not quite, says Peter Allen, partner and managing director of the global outsourcing consultancy TPI Inc. On his Consider the Source
blog, Allen says HP and EDS are each very good in their respective outsourcing segments: HP in finance and accounting, procurement, infrastructure and business applications; EDS in infrastructure, business applications and human resources. But even combined, the two don't come close to the breadth of services offered by IBM.
That may not be quite how Mark Hurd sees it, but it's a good bet he's considered the possibility.
