If you needed more proof that post-merger integration is an ongoing process, look no further than FedEx Corp. After four years as FedEx Kinko's, the company has decided to
change the name of its printing and professional services unit to FedEx Office.
When FedEx
acquired the struggling print shop for $2.4 billion in 2004, Kinko's was a copy and print services provider. It has since evolved into a back-office digital solutions provider businesses, explained CEO Brian Philip in a
press release. FedEx Kinko's brought in over $1 billion in revenue this year.
FedEx decided to
slow the expansion of FedEx Office to about 70 outlets in fiscal 2009 from 300 in 2008 due to the economy. The name change will cost $891 million or $696 million after taxes.
