club.gif Kellogg Co. likes snacks. The company just acquired two manufacturing facilities that make cracker, cookie and frozen dough products, many of them for Kellogg:  IndyBake Products LLC and Brownie Products Co. IndyBake has been manufacturing Kellogg's Town House and Club crackers through a partnership with the company for years.

Sales for IndyBake Products and Brownie Products are approximately $50 million, according to the press release.

Kellogg plans to expand the Indiana-based facility and will bring on 300 new full-time and contract positions over the next several years. Kellogg, which also makes Pop-Tarts, Cheez-It and Famous Amos Cookies, likes the margins in the retail snacks business, which posted an internal net sales growth of 6% in the second quarter. As part of its snacking strategy, the company also just brought back Hydrox cookies, which were originated by Sunshine Biscuit Co. - Maria Woehr
