Yahoo_telemundo.gifThe news may not rank up there with Jerry Yang stepping down as chief executive, but Yahoo! Inc. has suffered another loss: its partnership with Telemundo. According to Mediaweek, the Spanish-language network and the Internet search giant are dismantling their two-year old joint venture, Telemundo.Yahoo.com.

While the companies say the decision was mutual, Yahoo! can't feel good about news that Telemundo is partnering with Microsoft Corp. to launch its own Spanish-language site, telemundo.com, in January. Peter Blacker, Telemundo's executive vice president of digital media and emerging business, told Multichannel.com that his company needed an identity apart from Yahoo!, and that advertisers found the "Yahoo! Telemundo design too cold for them." He says Microsoft's video-streaming technology made it the right partner for Telemundo. - Suzanne Stevens
