Alternative energy is one of the few sectors predicted to see decent deal activity in 2009, and based on investment of late, solar power will be a hot one. On Monday, we told you how Sharp Corp. is planning
a $1 billion joint venture with Enel SpA, Italy's largest power producer, to generate and sell solar power to countries in the Mediterranean region. Now there's news that TGI Solar Power Inc., a supplier of integrated solar systems,
is partnering with Hong Kong-based Oriental
Energy Group Ltd. to do the same in China. The JV, to be called Solar Power China Corp. Ltd., will include two facilities to manufacture solar cells and then market solar power initially to eight to 10 Chinese cities.
