Owen Van Natta (pictured) will be
taking over as chief executive of News Corp.'s (NYSE:NWS) MySpace. Van Natta, who is the former chief revenue officer and vice president of operations for Facebook Inc., takes over for departing MySpace co-founder Chris DeWolfe.
As we reported Thursday, News Corp. chief digital officer Jonathan Miller, in the job less than a month, is acting quickly to
reinvigorate MySpace, presumably with a new revenue-generating business model. Van Natta's dealmaking and technological expertise should help to that end.
In addition to overseeing strategic alliances and negotiating a $240 million capital infusion from Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ:MSFT) while at Facebook, Van Natta previously was vice president of worldwide business and corporate development at Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN). He also was a founding member of A9.com, Amazon's search engine company, where he was responsible for site operations and sponsored-link advertising.
