
Online auctioneer eBay Inc. (NASDAQ:EBAY) is planning an IPO spinoff of Skype, its disappointing voice-over-Internet-protocol acquisition. CEO John Donahoe says he'd like to make the move in the first half of 2010, though as our Olaf de Senerpont Domis
pointed out last week on Dealscape, the deadline is probably a soft one, with getting the best price the driving consideration.
Still, eBay does appear to be getting ready for the separation. TechCrunch points out that eBay U.K. will
soon remove Skype's voice and chat buttons from its site.
Well, as we never tire of reminding you, divestitures take plenty of preparation. Maybe even when the thing you're divesting wasn't all that integrated in the first place. -
