LiveWebCast.pngFree Thursday afternoon?

You still have time to register for what promises to be a lively Webinar discussion of valuation challenges in the current climate, scheduled for 2 p.m. EDT Thursday and sponsored by Merrill Datasite. I'll be moderating, and we'll be taking up many of the topics we examined in our May magazine feature on the topic, Out of kilter.

The title refers, of course, to the extreme difficulty of putting a price on a company amid the current economic uncertainty. We'll look at why that's so and what dealmakers are doing to move ahead in spite of the hurdles.

The panelists are three of the best interviewees in our article:
  • Oliver Maier, U.S. vice president for M&A and business development in the Americas for Evonik Industries AG, a German specialty chemicals company with more than $20 billion in sales
  • Gary Frantzen, Chicago-based senior vice president at American Appraisal Associates Inc.
  • Anthony Aaron, Los Angeles-based principal in the valuation practice at Ernst & Young LLP
We hope you can join us -- and submit some questions to our experts. - Kenneth Klee

Even in a period when things like toxic credit default swaps and noxious structured investment vehicles dominate the conversation in many parts of the deal community, people are still willing to take the time to recognize skill and achievement in the strategic transactions that help those companies adapt and grow.
