Perot Systems Corp.'s (NYSE:PER) pending acquisition by Dell Inc. (NASDAQ:DELL) for $3.9 billion hasn't slowed the target's expansion in China. The latest deal is
Perot's alliance with China Telecommunications Corp. to deliver IT services to the healthcare industry.
The partners will work to develop and market an e-health platform to enhance delivery of healthcare services throughout China. The deal comes three months after Perot signed
an agreement with the Hunan Provincial Government of China to provide IT consulting services to support health initiatives in the province.
As
we reported previously, Perot's presence in healthcare in the U.S. and globally was part of what drew Dell's attention. Dell chief executive Michael Dell told Bloomberg News recently that the healthcare space is "very promising for growth" and that his company would be "reasonably active" in pursuing related deals.
Perot's China investments aren't exclusively in healthcare. The company on Oct. 12 announced
a deal to acquire BearingPoint Management Consulting of Shanghai Ltd. for an undisclosed amount. The business serves clients in China's energy, automotive, insurance and financial services industries. -
