Underwriter - Power Roundtable

Globalization is shaping our world: it’s expanding horizons as trade, technology and investment increasingly connect countries and companies around the globe; and it’s compressing time and distance as people and products move – and ideas spread – faster than ever before. At Ernst & Young, we have long thought that globalization is one of the defining issues of our time. Our response has been to transform our organization so that we keep in step with the changing needs of our clients and our people.

Our clients need integrated, cross-border service and the same high quality wherever they do business around the world. Our people want to build careers in an organization that’s global in its outlook and inclusive in its approach.

Avenues: The World School opened its first campus in New York in fall 2012. Serving children ages three to 18, Avenues New York will be part of a system of schools—one school with campuses in 20 or more cities around the globe— that emphasizes a commitment to prepare students for citizenship in a world increasingly made smaller through transportation and technology.

Empowered by technology, Avenues students will learn in an internationally collaborative environment that reflects the world in which they will live and work. With an emphasis on intensive language acquisition, starting at age three with immersion in either Mandarin Chinese or Spanish, they’ll graduate with advanced proficiency in a second language; have the opportunity to study at several campuses around the world; and experience a 15-year global studies curriculum created by leading university scholars.

Avenues will give students unparalleled opportunities to interact with people from different cultures with whom they are likely to work in their mature lives as business men and women, scholars and professionals. Older students at Avenues will have many opportunities for international study to help them become comfortable with people around the globe, while younger children will be exposed to stories, songs and traditions from many parts of the world in order to build a base for future understanding.

Program Underwriter - W.P. Carey

Founded in 1973 by Wm. Polk Carey, W. P. Carey has historically focused on two objectives: to provide quality companies with capital to run their businesses and to create investment products that work in good times and bad. We’ve grown tremendously over the last three decades because we’ve been successful on both fronts. Our investment experts advise quality companies and private equity firms, helping them create customized, flexible and results-driven financing structures for leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations and acquisitions.

  • W. P. Carey pioneered the sale-leaseback as a mainstream form of financing in the U.S. and has been a leader in introducing sale-leasebacks to corporations and governmental entities throughout Europe and now in Asia.
  • Over our 38-year history, we have provided long-term financing solutions to more than 284 companies.
  • In 2011, we structured investments totaling approximately $1.2 billion.
