More dealings for Disney?

A possible deal for Disney tops headlines again today.

The media titan is near a deal to sell off its Dallas-based ABC Radio unit to the No. 5 broadcaster in the U.S., Citadel Broadcasting Corp. for $3 billion, according to a published report in the New York Times.

Disney saw bids last week from New York's Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. and Bala Cynwid, Pa.-based Entercom Communications Corp., both of which had both long been considered frontrunners for its 73-station radio unit, before naming Las Vegas-based Citadel as the preferred acquirer and entering into exclusive negotiations.

A deal is expected to close within two weeks, but only if talks don’t break down first, according to sources mentioned in the report.

The news comes just days after Disney was reported to be in serious talks to acquire long-time strategic partner, Emeryville, Calif.-based Pixar Animation Studios Inc. — Carolyn Murphy
