The head of the Federal Aviation Administration
told the Associated Press Thursday that there was no reason for the U.S. government to impose a European-style regulatory regime on the nation’s airlines. “I would not anticipate anything where we go back to the long arm of government setting up routes and, in effect, determining a lot of the economic course of the industry,” FAA administrator Marion Blakey told the AP. Makes sense. After all, U.S. law already includes a provision for determining the course of the airline industry. It’s called “Chapter 11.”
