In his introductory interview with the former Knight Ridder paper he just bought, David Black told the Akron Beacon Journal that “Knight Ridder probably did need a shake-up.” A quick search has turned up similarly wise Black observations on other topics. For example: “New Orleans probably did need a shake-up” (September 2005); “Enron probably did need a shake-up” (December 2001); “The Nixon administration probably did need a shake-up” (August 1974); “The U.S. economy probably did need a shake-up” (October 1929); “The Roman Empire probably did need a shake-up” (476 A.D.); “The dinosaur population probably did need a shake-up” (Late Cretaceous period). —Jeffrey Kanige
