Just in time for Donald Trump's birthday, his executives have bought him his favorite gift of all: press coverage. Today is the real estate dealmaker's birthday — the big 6-0 to be exact. To celebrate, the Trump Entertainment Resorts Inc. and Diamondhead Casino Corp. announced—in time for birthday morning newspapers — that they would build a casino in Diamondhead, Miss. New York-based Trump, which emerged from bankruptcy protection on May 20, 2005, will form a joint venture with Madeira Beach, Fla.-based Diamondhead to develop the project, to be built on at least 40 acres owned by a Diamondhead unit. The casino would be Trump's only one outside Atlantic City, N.J., where the company has the Trump Taj Mahal, Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino and Trump Marina Hotel Casino. In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour signed a bill allowing construction of casinos up to 800 feet from the shoreline. The state previously did not allow onshore gaming.—David Elman
