Canadians conquer "South Park"

The prophecies of "South Park: the Movie" have come true — the Canadians are taking over. Vancouver, British Columbia, independent film producer Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. is buying television distributor Debmar-Mercury LLC for an undisclosed price. Santa Monica, Calif.-based Debmar-Mercury has distribution rights to Comedy Central's indelicate animated series "South Park" and other content. Lions Gate has been seeking new avenues for distribution. Last October, it bought U.K. distributor Redbus Film Distribution Ltd. for $35 million. — Chris Nolter
