Imax auction Rattles & Hums along

U2_Rattle_Hum.jpgIf U2 lead singer Bono's buyout firm Elevation Partners wins the auction for Imax Corp., then maybe we'll see a re-release of the band's old tour film, "Rattle & Hum." Elevation isn't the only bidder in the four-month-old auction of the big-screen theater chain. Imax has drawn an audience of four potential buyers, Elevation and an unnamed buyout firm and two industry players, Sony and South Korean Imax franchisee CJCGV Co. Ltd., according to a Globe & Mail report. In March, IMAX enlisted Allen & Co. and UBS Investment Bank to look for sale or merger options, according to Auction Block. While The Deal's Auction Block listed starting bids in the $150 million range, the Globe & Mail reports that bidding now may reach $700 million. The auction is expected to close Aug. 9. —Matthew Wurtzel
