Lebanese bankers debate Mideast conflict

  Share     E-Mail    Discussion    Print Story

The battle in south Lebanon between Israel and the terrorist organization Hezbollah not only sparks debate among Wall Street bankers of Jewish descent, but also Lebanese-Americans, who have a strong influence on Wall Street, according to a New York Times article. Examples include Morgan Stanley chief John Mack, whose family arrived in the early 1900s. More recent arrivals who spoke to the Times on the record about the conflict between Hezbollah and Israel include Ziad K. Abdelnour, founder of private equity firm Blackhawk Partners, LLC, Credit Suisse Group's George F. Boutros and former head of London-based hedge fund GLG Partners Philippe Jabre. As the fighting rages on, The Times discussed with them their differing views on both the conflict and the future of Lebanon.—Matthew Wurtzel
