August A. Busch IV, best known for his appearance in Budweiser TV commercials, was named president and chief executive of Anheuser-Busch on Wednesday. The move returns a member of the Busch family to the helm of the nation's largest brewer for the first time in four years. Busch replaces
Patrick T. Stokes, the only person not a member of the Busch family to head the brewer. Stokes will retire November 30, but will assume the chairmanship from August Busch III, who will remain on the board. In addition to selling the beer during NASCAR, football games and other televised sporting events, Busch
is president of the
flagship division, the United States brewery unit, which is responsible for Budweiser and other domestic beers. Hopefully Busch will be more
successful
than another scion up in Detroit, who recently stepped down from heading his family's namesake business. —Matthew Wurtzel
