Sept. 15, 1999: The Deal published its first issue. The lead story was a scoop about VoiceStream Wireless Corp., now T-Mobile USA, nearing plans to announce the acquisition of rival wireless provider PowerTel Inc. In addition to the scoop, the issue included a feature listing the top earners in private equity. Who was the biggest earner in 1999?
