The Los Angeles Times may have a chance of being sold after all. The Tribune Co. said Thursday night it would consider selling any or all of its 11 newspapers that include the L.A. Times and 25 television stations. "Everything's on the table," Tribune Chairman and Chief Executive Dennis FitzSimons said after the Thursday meeting. The Chicago-based company named a committee to explore its options that could include a breakup or outright sale of the media company or individual assets as well as possibly a deal to take the company private. The special committee is made up of seven independent board members, including Pasadena resident Enrique Hernandez Jr., who is chairman and CEO of Inter-Con Security Systems Inc. Tribune said it is expected to finalize a game plan by the end of this year. Los Angeles politicians, editorial executives at the L.A. Times and the Chandler family, who own the largest share of Tribune, have supported the sale of the L.A. Times. — Gerald Magpily
