Former Securities and Exchange Commission chief William H. Donaldson (pictured at left) has returned to the world of banking by joining startup boutique Perella Weinberg Partners as chairman of its advisory council, the firm said Thursday. Donaldson, who co-founded investment bank Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette and later became SEC chairman under President George W. Bush, will work on "strategic issues and organizational and client-related matters" for the boutique bank, founded last year by Wall Street veterans Joseph R. Perella and Peter A. Weinberg. Considering the time it took Perella and Weinberg to choose a name for the bank, they could use Donaldson's sage advise. —Matthew Wurtzel
