Looking for love

Hoping to spread a bit of Valentine's cheer, Quepasa Corp., the parent of bicultural Hispanic-American social networking Web portal Quepasa.com, has unveiled plans to acquire Hispanic online dating site Corazones.com from DNI Holdings LLC. The deal, the companies said, brings together Quepasa's reported 500,000 users and Corazones' 300,000 looking for love.

Further, according to Reuters, U.S. Web dating heavyweights Match.com and eHarmony are committed to helping bring Chinese singles together. IAC/InterActiveCorp's Match.com has its eye on China's Love21CN.com, either to stake a claim or take it over entirely, Reuters said, while eHarmony has yet to secure a potential target. But, Reuters points out, the online matchmakers have a ways to go to catch up to France's Meetic, with seeds already planted in the Chinese market through a business relationship with China.com Inc. and a site it launched in July "Me Tang," or "Sweetie." Looking ahead, Meetic is expected to lead a $20 million investment in Yeeyoo.com of Beijing.—Carolyn Murphy
