Redstone should hire Moonves

  Share     E-Mail    Discussion    Print Story

Les MoonvesThe Media Wire Daily blog offers Sumner Redstone some unique advice on how to correct problems at Viacom: hire Les Moonves. The argument is that the CBS chief has kept the broadcaster's ship steady and cruising ever since last year's spinoff from Viacom. On the other hand, Viacom has floundered under Phil Dauman's leadership. The circumstances led Media Wire Daily to conclude that Moonves has all the right moves to also steady the Viacom colossus. The blog stops short of suggesting that Redstone re-unite these estranged siblings through a merger — sorry Bear, Stearns & Co. no more fees for you. Instead, Media Wire Daily suggests Viacom-CBS and Moonves should follow the example of Nissan-Renault and their unified leadership under Carlos Ghosn. Of course, running both of Redstone's companies won't win Moonves a knighting from Queen Elizabeth II. —Matthew Wurtzel
