For the dealmakers eyeing the new offerings of Bentley and Rolls Royce, it looks like the market for ultra-luxe vehicles is about to become more crowded because Germany's Daimler-Chrysler wants to join the party by adding new models to its ultra-luxe marquee, Maybach. To compete with the Bentley Continental GTC and Rolls-Royce Drophead Coupe, Maybach is expected to add a rag top option to both its 57 and 62 models. However, the German brand will outdo its British rivals by offering four doors. Imagine sunbathing fully reclined in the back of a Maybach 62 making it a true land yacht.
For those looking for something under the $300,000 starting price, then it seems Cadillac may have a future halo model for you that GM co-chairman Bob Lutz called "the Cadillac of Cadillacs." Lutz has confirmed work on a new V12 engine to power a new Cadillac sedan to go up against the Lexus LS and Mercedes S-class — the Maybach's first cousin.
