Just in: Palm-Moto deal on deck

  Share     E-Mail    Discussion    Print Story

Palm TreoCNBC is reporting from an annonymous Palm shareholder that a $2 billion deal will be announced by tomorrow morning, and the winner won't be Nokia after all. The unnamed source says most of yesterday's Unstrung.com story is true, except the part about Motorola not being directly involved. Now, Palm seems to be exclusively talking with Motorola leaving Nokia, TPG and Silver Lake Partners in the cold. Also, the auction is not a short three week affair — as Dealscape had suspected. Although Palm first acknowledged hiring Morgan Stanley on March 5 after rumors first surfaced in late February, it seems Palm hired the bank shortly after New Years, according to CNBC.—Matthew Wurtzel
