The Deal on deck: Carlyle lobbies for Dubai sale

Hoping to avoid congressional uproar, lobbyists for the Carlyle Group have been working the halls of Capitol Hill to build support for the $1.5 billion proposed sale of its aviation services holdings to state-owned Dubai Aerospace Enterprise. DAE is in talks to acquire Standard Aero Holdings Inc. and Landmark Aviation.

According to officials familiar with the transaction, Carlyle Group communications officials have been trying to persuade key lawmakers that the transaction poses no threat to U.S. national security. To avoid a firestorm Carlyle, and DAE have already promised some concessions, even before formally notifying regulators of the transaction.
