The Deal on deck: KKR warns Texas lawmakers

Henry Kravis threatened to walk away from KKR’s $45 billion buyout of Dallas power generator if the Texas legislature imposes more conditions.

Kravis told a Texas House committee that his firm and buyout partner Texas Pacific Group made such a large commitment because the rules were transparent and the Public Utility Commission of Texas had certain authority.

“Had we known that the rules would be changed, I think that would have changed our thinking about whether we would have made an offer,” he said.
