Cold Stone Creamery, Kahala make tasty combination

  Share     E-Mail    Discussion    Print Story

Ice cream maker Cold Stone Creamery and restaurant owner Kahala will create an entirely new menu after they combine their offerings into a company with more than $1.1 billion in sales. The two privately held food purveyors announced Friday they will merge to form Kahala Cold Stone in an attempt to conquer America's palates. Cold Stone primarily offers handpacked ice cream flavors with more than 1,400 stores; Kahala's brands include Blimpie, Samurai Sam's Teriyaki Grill, Taco Time, Ranch 1 and Surf City Squeeze. The companies say the deal will lower overall costs and leverage their buying power and real estate. —Gerald Magpily
