T. Rowe Price supports Murdoch's DJ bid

032006_rmurdoch%2C0.jpg As Rupert Murdoch stares down an unblinking Bancroft family, one of Dow Jones & Co's leading independent shareholders, T. Rowe Price Group Inc., has blinked. The mutual fund giant, Dow Jones' largest outside investor with 4.5 million shares, lent Murdoch a show of support for his $5 billion bid when T. Rowe Price chairman Brian Rogers told the Financial Times that the $60 a share offer is attractive. In the same story, Rogers also had some harsh words for buyout firms. —Matthew Wurtzel
